France’s first motorway hydrogen station dedicated to heavy‑duty vehicles is now operational at the TotalEnergies Reims Champagne Nord service area.
Operated by TEAL Mobility under the TotalEnergies brand and located at the Reims Champagne Nord service area on the A4 motorway in the Grand Est region, this hydrogen station is the first motorway hydrogen station in France designed specifically for heavy‑duty vehicles, while remaining accessible to all hydrogen‑powered vehicles.
Upgraded by TotalEnergies in 2025, the site now offers a true multi‑energy platform, including a high‑power electric charging hub and a hydrogen station accessible 24/7, in both directions of traffic.
This hydrogen station plays a strategic role in the development of low‑carbon heavy‑duty mobility. Located along a major logistics corridor, it facilitates connections between France, Germany and the Benelux, contributing to the emergence of low‑carbon European corridors.
A high‑performance hydrogen station for heavy‑duty transport, with a capacity of 1 tonne per day
The hydrogen station at the TotalEnergies Reims Champagne Nord service area is designed to meet the needs of both heavy‑duty and light vehicles, thanks to equipment delivering hydrogen at 350 bar and 700 bar, in line with the latest market standards.
Its performance meets the requirements of long‑distance heavy‑duty transport, with a daily capacity of 1 tonne, made possible by two compressors in series.
The two simultaneous refuelling lanes allow up to six vehicles per hour to be refuelled, with:
- an average refuelling time of 12 minutes (flow rate of 60 g/s)
- 40 kg per fill
The station is open 24/7 and offers multiple payment methods: bank cards and TEAL Mobility H₂ cards, ensuring seamless and universal access.
A strategic location at the heart of European corridors
Located along a major logistics axis in the Grand Est region, the Reims Champagne Nord hydrogen station strengthens infrastructure within the Trans‑European Transport Network (TEN‑T) and meets the requirements of the European AFIR regulation (Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation).
It provides direct connections to:
- Germany, via the A4 motorway
- Luxembourg, via the A31 at Metz
- Belgium, via the A34 and A26 motorways
This location contributes to strengthening East–West and North–South logistics flows, which are essential to regional, national and European supply chains.
Certified RFNBO renewable hydrogen
The station is supplied with renewable hydrogen certified RFNBO (Renewable Fuels of Non‑Biological Origin), produced by water electrolysis in compliance with the most stringent European standards for renewable hydrogen under the RED directive.
A rapidly expanding network of stations in France and Europe
In France, the Reims Nord service area station, operated under the TotalEnergies brand, complements the stations already in operation in Paris Ouest (Les Loges‑en‑Josas) and Marseille Fos.
TEAL Mobility operates Europe’s first hydrogen station network, with 17 stations across five countries: France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany.
In 2026, five new projects, strategically located near major ports and key cities, are expected to further strengthen coverage of European logistics hubs in Mulhouse, as well as Duisburg, Antwerp, Rotterdam and Berlin.
The opening of our station at the Reims Nord service area strengthens TEAL Mobility’s hydrogen infrastructure network in France, alongside the stations already in operation in Paris Ouest and Marseille‑Fos. It is also part of the development of a European network: since 2025, TEAL Mobility has opened nine hydrogen stations in France, the Netherlands and Germany, bringing its network to 17 stations across five European countries, contributing to the deployment of strategic corridors for heavy‑duty mobility in Europe. Hydrogen mobility is no longer a promise, but a reality.”
Florentin de Loppinot, President of TEAL Mobility
We are very pleased to offer France’s very first motorway hydrogen station at the TotalEnergies Reims Champagne Nord service area. It complements our multi‑energy offering by providing infrastructure adapted to all forms of mobility.”
