H2 Green Power & Logistics AG and MAN Present New Development for Decarbonizing Heavy-Duty Transport
Finally, Hydrogen Tractor Units for the Logistics Sector H2 Green Power & Logistics AG and MAN Present New Development for Decarbonizing Heavy-Duty Transport
The clean mobility company H2 Green Power & Logistics presented another new development for the future of hydrogen mobility to its customers in early September.
In cooperation with MAN, the MAN hTGX hydrogen tractor unit was presented exclusively in North Rhine-Westphalia and for the first time in Germany at the MAN service center in Münster/Senden. The program included insights into hydrogen mobility, expert discussions on the current state of H2 development, test drives, and explanations of a hydrogen refueling station.
Since 2021, H2 Green Power & Logistics has been operating its climate-friendly commercial vehicle fleet across Germany. Since last year, in addition to hydrogen trucks, electric battery-powered trucks have also been added to the fleet. With the presentation of the MAN hTGX, the company has reached another milestone.
Around 25 large-scale and fleet customers came to the MAN service center in Münster, who can now be offered a significantly expanded program. They experienced and tested a truck that does not need to convert hydrogen into electricity as in a fuel cell, but instead can store hydrogen much faster in the absolutely safe 1,000-bar tanks from Voith without assistance and burn it directly without emissions. The MAN hydrogen tractor unit represents a major development step for H2 Green Power & Logistics toward more flexibility in long-haul transport. MAN tractor units can be combined with various trailers and special superstructures, making them accessible to a significantly larger customer base. From 2026, route operations are planned in all directions along the major highways.
MAN: New Truck with Direct Injection for Hydrogen Engine
With the MAN hTGX, the commercial vehicle manufacturer MAN expands its existing battery-electric portfolio with a hydrogen tractor unit for emission-free regional and long-haul transport. The vehicle is equipped with the newly developed MAN H45 hydrogen combustion engine, which delivers 520 hp and a maximum torque of 2,500 Nm. Thanks to direct hydrogen injection, the engine develops its power particularly quickly—comparable to conventional diesel engines.
“The MAN hTGX combines locally emission-free logistics with the familiar performance in heavy-duty transport,” explained Richard Frenz, Head of Transformation at MAN, during the presentation in Münster/Senden.
This makes the vehicle particularly suitable for demanding logistics applications such as construction site, fuel, or heavy-load transports. As a “zero-emission vehicle” according to EU classification, the hTGX also offers advantages for CO₂ fleet targets and toll regulations.
Since the end of August, H2 Green Power & Logistics has been registered as a joint-stock company at the Stendal District Court. The company has been operating in the market for three years, running a complete logistics ecosystem with its own green electricity generated in Magdeburg from photovoltaics, wind power, and biomass. The fleet currently consists of nine, and from October eleven, completely emission-free H2 and electric trucks, along with the corresponding charging and hydrogen refueling stations. This creates a complete package that combines its own forwarding and rental business with sustainable truck fleets, charging and refueling infrastructure, as well as digital control and CO2 certification. Cooperation with renowned fueling operators such as Westfalen, H2 Mobility, and TEAL Mobility (a joint venture of Air Liquide and TotalEnergies) ensures the necessary infrastructure availability and extensive range.
About Westfalen AG
The Westfalen Group has been supplying energy for over 100 years and has provided its customers with hydrogen for more than 40 years. Headquartered in Münster, the company is currently driving numerous hydrogen projects with partners at home and abroad. These include H2 production facilities such as electrolyzers with filling stations and trailers, as well as the joint development of H2 refueling infrastructure for heavy-duty commercial vehicles with RWE under the joint venture two4H2. Westfalen aims to establish itself as the preferred partner for the European mid-sized sector in decentralized green hydrogen production and delivery.
About H2 MOBILITY
H2 MOBILITY is a pioneer in the development of public hydrogen refueling infrastructure and Germany’s largest operator of hydrogen stations. The company is committed to promoting sustainable mobility and aims to switch entirely to renewable hydrogen by 2028. With the strategic expansion of the 350-bar infrastructure for trucks and buses, and major projects such as the opening of Europe’s most powerful hydrogen station in Düsseldorf in May 2025, H2 MOBILITY is driving the market ramp-up for heavy-duty transport.
About TEAL Mobility
“In partnership with MAN and H2 Green Power & Logistics AG, hydrogen is evolving from pilot projects to scalable, practical solutions. With stations in five European countries, TEAL Mobility accelerates the transition to a cleaner, more flexible future for long-haul transport. The newly commissioned stations in Leipzig and Nuremberg can supply over 20 trucks per day and enable refueling in 15 minutes for ranges of up to 800 kilometers. Combined with the TEAL Mobility fuel card and the integrated online portal for fleet management, TEAL Mobility ensures a seamless and efficient hydrogen transition for logistics companies,” said Florentin de Loppinot, CEO of TEAL Mobility.
